Loupewise for Jewelers & Bench

Know what came
across the counter.

The stone in front of you is probably a diamond. Proving it is not moissanite, CZ, white sapphire or zircon takes a reading, not a guess — and the answer you write down should say what you actually established.

How a jeweler works a take-in

A labeled example workflow — this is the intended use, not a customer story.

Step 1

Separate diamond from its look-alikes

Dispersion alone does most of the work before RI or SG: diamond 0.044, cubic zirconia 0.066, moissanite 0.104 — the simulants show more fire, not less. Worked per pair: vs moissanite, vs cubic zirconia, vs white sapphire, vs zircon.

Step 2

Write down only what you established

The engine returns a ranked candidate set and the next test that separates it, in “candidates include” and “consistent with” language. That is deliberate: naming a stone on a take-in envelope is a commitment, and a hedged reading is the honest record of what a reading actually proves.

Step 3

Keep the record with the job

The session saves with the observations, the candidates, photos, client name and the date — so the envelope, the repair ticket and the file all say the same thing three weeks later.

Separation guides

Worked property-based separations for the pairs that actually cross a counter — diamond simulants, ruby and spinel, jadeite and serpentine, natural versus synthetic.

Examination reports

PDF/HTML reports from any session — observations, candidates, photos, your examiner details. White-label on Team.

Loupewise is a field identification and documentation tool — indicators and candidates, not certifications, and it does not appraise or value stones. For consequential stones, refer to an accredited laboratory. Read our full methodology.
